KNEE JOINT

With its complex structures, and because of its particular loading in everyday life due to professional and sports activities, the knee joint is very susceptible to injuries and damage. It is therefore one of the joints upon which operations are performed frequently. Almost all the disorders can be treated purely arthroscopically, because the joint is particularly easily accessible. However, in the case of a particularly advanced cartilage defect (arthrosis), when arthroscopic operations or cartilage cell transplantation can no longer be performed, the damaged joint surfaces must be replaced by metal sliding surfaces (surface replacement, total endoprosthesis of the knee). For this, it is necessary only to remove the damaged areas of the cartilage and small parts of the neighboring bone (surface replacement). All endoprosthetic operations can be performed using the minimally invasive operation technique (MIS) – predominantly without severing muscles, ligaments, or tendons. In the Procelsio Clinic, prostheses are inserted which emulate the anatomy of each patient’s own knee (3D-print). Not only during the insertion (i.e. during the operation) but also afterwards, this tailored solution offers significant advantages compared to standard knee joint replacement. So: if it has to be a replacement knee, why not your own? Find out more about it:
