DR. MED. ULRICH HASENBERG

Dr. Ulrich Hasenberg studied human medicine at the University of Essen from 2001 to 2007, graduating with distinction (“very good”). Even during his studies, he developed a strong interest in orthopaedics and worked for several years as a student assistant in the orthopaedic department of the University Hospital Essen-Werden under the direction of Prof. Dr. Löhr.

He received his medical license (Approbation) in 2007. In 2008, he began his residency at the Catholic Clinics Ruhrhalbinsel in Essen-Kupferdreh, focusing on traumatology and joint replacement (endoprosthetics). He also began his specialization in sports medicine as a member of the German Society for Sports Medicine and Prevention (DGSP).In 2017, he was awarded the additional qualification in Sports Medicine.

In 2010, Dr. Hasenberg earned his doctorate with a dissertation on“Characteristics of Pulmonary Embolism in Patients With and Without Malignant Underlying Disease”, completed at the Institute of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology and Neuroradiology under Prof. Dr. M. Forsting at the University Hospital Essen. Since 2011, Dr. Hasenberg has been actively involved as an emergency physician for the city of Essen. In September 2014, he passed the specialist examination and was certified by the Medical Association of North Rhine as a Specialist in Orthopaedics and Trauma Surgery.

Since April 2016, Dr. Hasenberg has held this role at the Procelsio Clinic, where he also serves as Head of Sports Medicine.In his free time, he provides sports medical support to the Bundesliga volleyball team Humann Essen.
