Dr. med. Nicholas Westermeyer

Dr. Westermeyer studied medicine at the University of Duisburg-Essen and graduated in 2008. He began his clinical career in the Department of General and Trauma Surgery at Alfried Krupp Hospital. In 2012, he transferred to the hospital’s Department of Orthopaedics, Sports Orthopaedics, and Orthopaedic Surgery under the leadership of Prof. Andreas Krödel.

After receiving his board certification as a Specialist in Orthopaedics and Trauma Surgery in 2015, he joined the Department of Orthopaedics I at St. Bernhard Hospital in Kamp-Lintfort, led by Dr. Martin Grummel. At this supraregional joint replacement center, he was appointed senior consultant in 2017 and served from 2019 until the end of 2022 as chief senior consultant and coordinator of the maximum care Endoprosthetics Centre.

His clinical focus during this time was on primary and revision joint replacement of the hip and knee. In 2018, he received the additional qualification in Special Orthopaedic Surgery. He also established a department for shoulder surgery, where he performed both arthroscopic joint-preserving procedures and shoulder joint replacements.

In January 2023, Dr. Westermeyer took over the private orthopaedic practice Orthopädie am Stern in Essen-Rüttenscheid and has since continued his surgical activity at the Procelsio Clinic. His current focus lies on the minimally invasive implantation of artificial hip joints and the kinematically aligned implantation of knee prostheses.
