Florian Hammes

Florian Hammes studied human medicine at the Ruhr University Bochum from 1998 to 2004, followed by a practical year at the University of Duisburg-Essen. He received his medical license in 2005. From 2006 to 2012, he completed his residency in orthopaedics and trauma surgery at BG Klinikum Duisburg and the University Hospital Essen.

In March 2012, he successfully passed the specialist examination and was awarded the title of Specialist in Orthopaedics and Trauma Surgery, which was supplemented in 2014 by the additional qualification in Special Trauma Surgery following further training at the University Hospital Essen.

After working as a physician at the private orthopaedic practice of Dr. Schott in Essen in 2014, he joined the Department of Orthopaedics and Trauma Surgery at Alfried Krupp Hospital in Essen-Rüttenscheid in mid-2015 as a senior consultant, where he was appointed deputy trauma surgeon in 2015 and head of the section for sports orthopaedics and joint traumatology in 2019.

Since April 1, 2024, Florian Hammes has held a comparable position at the Procelsio Clinic in Essen. His main area of expertise is sports orthopaedics: minimally invasive (arthroscopic) and open joint surgery of the hip, shoulder, elbow and knee, including ligament, meniscus and cartilage surgery including ACT, multiligament stabilisations, corrective osteotomies near the knee joint, patellofemoral surgery and shoulder arthroplasty, with a particular focus on revision procedures of the knee and shoulder joint.

In addition to the specialist titles already mentioned, Florian Hammes holds the following recognitions: AGA Arthroscopist, AGA Shoulder Arthroscopist, AGA Certified Surgeon Advanced, Certified Knee Surgeon of the German Knee Society.
